Teachers Get Interactive With Virtual Reality at Techs4Education Discovery Day

Techs4Education, the trusted provider of IT support services and technology solutions to schools in the South and South West, was host to teachers and IT managers from 15 schools across Wiltshire, at its October Discovery Day, in Swindon. In conjunction with partner, Avantis Education, guests at the workshop were given a hands-on opportunity to try out education specific Virtual Reality (VR) and learn how this technology can transform the way educational content is delivered through a 360 degree visual experience. VR brings endless possibilities for learning in a number of subjects, from creating real-time science experiments in a virtual laboratory, through to going on virtual field trips almost anywhere in the world.

A detailed update of Microsoft’s latest education toolkit was also showcased, covering; Office 365, Skype Virtual Field Trips, OneNote Class Notebooks and how to enhance classroom participation with Microsoft Teams.

Graham Ford, Techs4Education Operations Director, speaking about the Discovery Day, said; “It was great to see teachers and school IT managers effectively being ‘in class’ at our Discovery Day. They enjoyed the chance of giving Virtual Reality a genuine work out and gaining an insight into how new education apps can benefit teaching and workload management.

Teachers can utilise VR headsets to bring new subjects to life in a 360 format, right across the curriculum, without having to leave the classroom.”
