T4E Supports Safer Internet Day – 9th February 2021

Techs4Education is supporting Safer Internet Day 2021 on 9th February.  Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the event invites thousands of organisations to get involved and promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology to children and young people.

Techs4Education works hard to keep the schools it works for internet safe.   This involves installing and keeping network security software up to date and, most importantly, keeping pupils away from any harm.  Its work with schools includes developing specific internet use protocols that enable teachers to protect pupils and promote good ‘NETiquette’ among students.

Graham Ford, Techs4Education Operations Director, speaking about Internet Safety Day, said;  “As the majority of schooling is online for the moment, Safer Internet Day 2021 is a timely reminder to children to be vigilant online.  The campaign is very informative and gives pupils the advice they need to recognise fake information and avoid manipulation.  It can only support the great work teachers already undertake to create a healthy online environment.”

The Campaign offers Top Tips to students and teachers on internet safety and invites 8-13 year olds to take part in a Quiz that tests their knowledge of how to navigate situations they may come across online.

Safer Internet Day 2021 celebrates the amazing range of information and opportunities online, and its potential to inform, connect and inspire, whilst also looking at how young people can separate fact from fiction. The year, the campaign focuses on how to help young people know what to trust online, supporting young people to question, challenge and change the online world. It will explore how influence, persuasion and manipulation can impact young people’s decisions, opinions and what they share online. The organisers want to give young people the skills to support one another and the strategies to spot and speak out against harmful and misleading content online.
